Rad Smith

specializes in ski map products, cartographic illustration, and interpretive graphic design

Since 1998, I have been providing a variety of maps, technical illustrations, and graphic solutions to the outdoor industry, as well in support of the interpretation of natural and cultural resources. My work combines a range of traditional drawing and painting skills with technical mapping and illustration techniques. By this I provide accurate, but unique, visual solutions to a wide variety of end users.

I've recently turned, with paint brush in hand, to the traditional method of painting panoramic terrain maps. With this I hope to achieve a more natural look and feel with a wider variety of color and texture in my maps. With guidance from James Niehues and by referencing a variety of panoramic painters for inspiration, I will continue to expand my mapping services... while I hope to carry on a long tradition of creating panoramic artwork.
